And it takes more than 24 people to kill six million. There were some, at the very top of the Nazi state, who were famously called to account at the Nuremberg trials. Of course, "no one" is not literally true. The dirty little secret of the Holocaust, which many would regard as the greatest crime in human history, is that no one was punished for it. This fact is shocking, even if it is hardly new, and the story it triggered is stunning: a tale of heroism and violence, a burning quest for justice and revenge that reads more like ancient legend than contemporary history.įirst the fact. The key facts are in place, as thoroughly documented as any event in human history: the Nazis wanted to rid the world of Jews and, through both mass shootings and gas chambers, they succeeded in murdering six million of them, including more than a million children.Īnd yet there is at least one aspect of the Holocaust that has barely registered on the world's consciousness, a remarkable fact - and, causally connected to it, an extraordinary story. There was a surge of fresh information when the Soviet records were opened up after 1991, but there is no further comparable cache of papers waiting to be mined. And it's true that, as that event slips from memory into history and the remaining survivors enter their last years, the flow of new revelations about the Nazi campaign to eradicate the Jews has slowed to a trickle. This was a great start to what I am assuming will be another hot as fuck trilogy from an amazing author. After more than six decades, with libraries full of books, archives packed with testimony and warehouses crammed with documents, you might think we know all there is to know about the Holocaust. Ever since I read Twist Me back in December of 2015, Anna Zaires has had my one-click trigger by the balls. If she shits on a piece of paper.I want to read it. Did she actually just say that, you're thinking? When you read a Zaires book, you can just tell homie is intelligent. Seriously though, she must have legit graduated from college with a degree in "Smarter Than You." When you read a Zaires book, you can just tell homie is intelligent. Now, I totally understand the whole "don't knock people's babies cause they put their heart and soul into them" mumbo jumbo, but let's just be honest: I'm about to piss off some snowflakes saying this, but fuck it: In this new era of self-published authors.there are so many shiteous books out there. Some of the stuff people put out is pretty shitty. I read a lot of self-published stuff that has shitty plots, shitty grammar, shitty EVERYTHING.Īll I am saying is that reading a book these days with solid plots, solid characters, AND solid grammar? I'm just keepin' it real and telling it like it is people. So whenever a new Zaires book comes out, you can bet your ass that I'm getting my Gene Kelly on. They have layers to them that just make them awesome. Even when you have to suspend belief - as was the case with her Krinar Series - it came from a scientific platform that just made sense.Īdd to that some awesome psychological elements, an edge of darkness, and some seriously hot sexy time? The plot is always tight - with no holes and lots of reason - and the writing and grammar is always flawless. I cannot WAIT for book two in this series. I love the world and the character portraits Zaires has created here in Twist Me/Capture Me land and Peter's book definitely hit par. I'm so excited to start this, I could crap myself. Unfortunately, while this story was good, it didn't live up to my expectations for this writer. When I saw that Anna Zaires had released another dark romance, I was sure that I'd found my next 5-star read. Some of her other dark series are amongst my favorites. I absolutely love that this lady is not afraid to write some scary, twisted and disturbing content. THEY SHOT SERIESĬreating anti-heroes that make you fall in love with them, in spite of your better judgment, is a specialty of hers.
